| ANNIE DAY |
|
Annie Day is an Australian artist working primarily in the fields of printmaking and painting.
Annie has been a practicing artist since gaining her diploma in painting in 1974 from the National Art School, Sydney.
As a celebrated portrait artist she has had work displayed in the prestigious Portia Geech portrait prize several times. In addition, she has also been a finalist in the Doug Moran Portraits of Australia international portrait prize.
Amongst the luminaries that have sat for Annie are author Morris West, photographer Max Dupain and successful businessman Sir Ron Brierley.
Annie has had many commissions for mural work from private homes, including that of a previous Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
She has also painted murals for large hospitals and been commissioned to paint a mural for the London hotel The Stafford where she became friends with wartime hero Nancy Wake.
In recent years Annies interest has turned from painting to printmaking. Over the past 14 years she has become a passionate advocate of safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly printmaking techniques.
She can be found practicing these techniques at the Warringah Printmakers Studio, Sydney where she is also acts as president.
In the last three years, Annie's research has had a particular focus on Waterless Lithography and she has been aligning her groundbreaking methodologies in this field in particular. These have been taught in workshops in both Sydney and Mildura, Victoria.
In 2009, her printmaking skills took her to Florence, Italy where she gave demonstrations of Aluminium plate etching with a copper sulphate solution.
These safer printmaking techniques span many forms of printmaking practice including Aluminium etching, Photopolymer plate making, Collagraph and other intaglio and relief techniques.
Annies CV includes the many projects she has been involved in over the past few years all over Australia and internationally from China to Luxembourg, Denmark, Brazil, Canada, USA, Switzerland, Belgium, Lithuania, Spain, Iceland, Bulgaria, France and UK . |

ROBIN EZRA
| There's a theme of delicacy and detail
in all Robin's work, whether it is a large colourful painting, a graphite drawing or one
of the many editions of prints she is now producing. Robin has always had an
awareness of nature and the world around her, and brings her astute observation into her
work by the way she designs her pieces - always with an understanding of composition that
draws the viewer into the image. There is a harmony that runs through Robin's work
that continues to please and invite, even when it is a piece you might have seen many
times before. Although Robin was self-taught as a teenager, her intensity of interest in all things visual, and consequently the quality of the body of work she now produces really began when she enrolled in Life Drawing classes at the ANU School or Art with the 3rd Year Sculpture students in 1985. Since then she has studied a variety of mediums and attended a number of courses in Printmaking - a lot of them from the Warringah Printmakers Studio where she has assisted in teaching Printmaking to other students. In July 2009 Robin travelled to Florence to partake
in an intense Printmaking workshop, where she studied alongside students and experienced
Printmakers from all over the world. |
