Anne-France Fulgence likes dramatic landscape compositions. These are eerie dream places – scenes suffused with serenity, fleeting moments of stillness when the world stops. Mysterious, poetic places between light and twilight, storm and cloud, sun and shade. The in-between.
Her passion for Nature shows in her work, never seeking to contain a scene’s mythic grandeur, but opening our eyes to its primordial beauty through the free-flowing mastery of her media in a style figurative, impressionistic, and representational, echoing classic hallmarks of Romanticism and the Sublime.
On paper and canvas, her paintings become a bridge between the real and the fantastical.
A-F was born in Morocco, studied in France, and migrated to Australia in 1989. She attributes her sense of drama and place to her French ancestry and what she admits is a “wild romanticism”.
“The Australia I paint is vivid, compelling, ever shifting. My paintings can be like a poetic tale, moody, evocative and atmospheric,” she explains.
A-F is already a collectable artist, having exhibited professionally for over 19 years, hosting over 20 solo exhibitions in New South Wales and Tasmania. Her work is held in Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Art Bank and a number of private collections.
